Description: Juvenile Hallux valgus or Bunions in children are usually familial and bilateral. Nonoperative measures and growth modulation are good options in growing children and osteotomies should be reserved for severe deformities and in older children. The complication rates are high and are often from inadequate treatment or from selecting the wrong procedure suggesting that surgery is best postponed till after skeletal maturity.
Learning Objectives: 1. Review the evaluation of bunions in children 2. Discuss growth modulation in correcting bunions 3. Highlight the differences in treating pediatric bunions.
